The You In You
Who are you?
You are who you choose to be,
but no matter how you turn and twist,
the you, in you will always be you.
It’s okay to ask yourself, “Who am I?”
once in a while. It’s okay to answer
while you scream or cry, but always
remember, I am I, from the pupils
in my eyes to the way I smile.
Yes, you are different. Your skin is a
different pigments. You may be “fat”
or “thin,” but these are all mindless things
compared to what’s within. One train
of thought races the wind, a million miles
a second in the think of things, but again
you lost to win because a new train made
you lose track.
Are “YOU” back?
You seem different. Who’s that?
You are you, and they are what you
can’t be because you are who you
choose to be. But no matter how you turn and twist,
the you in you will always be you,
even if you were two.
